Really good combination of turns to Booneville
Leaving Grangeville on ID13 it quickly joins ID14 for a fun, twisty climb to Elk City.
This is a great route through a high-elevation mountain pass (9200' elevation). Probably best for Supermoto, sport bikes, or touring/adventure bikes, but you could ride anything if you are up for a lot of curves. When you start up the mountain, it is all curves and somewhat narrow. The road is probably closed in winter (likely through May or June), so check the season and weather before you go. But it's great views, almost no one up there (when we went in October), and a fun route! Kennedy Meadows store has gas too.
Gravel/Sand: we encountered light sand on some corners, and slid around a bit, so be careful and watch the roadway for hazards.
This fun out-and-back route is the road to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest - a twisty, steeply-climbing mountain road, with a drop-off on one side. Scenery is amazing, but keep your eyes on the road! Corners sneak up on you, but a very fun, entertaining route. You may end up behind a slow-moving tourist car, but it is still worth the views on the way up. Take a short hike when you get to the top, around the Bristlecone Pines. Very nice route.
Benton Crossing is very scenic, and not a lot of cars out there. Nice cruiser road, high speed and fun corners, and gorgeous views!
This ride out to Mt St Helens and back - either for northbound or southbound riders on Highway 5 - is very scenic and a great road, practicallly *made* for motorcycles. Nice long curving corners, nothing surprises you. A gorgeous ride, and beautiful views of Mt St Helens when you get to the end. Go all the way up to the visitor center and go in and watch the movie/see the exhibits. Incredible place - the volcano is amazing!
Very nice coastal run up to the tip of the Olympic Peninsula. Curvy road mostly in the forest, be careful if roads are wet - there is moss growing on the roads near the end of the route.
When you get to the end, you definitely want to hike out the Cape Flattery Trail out to the lands end where there are amazing views of sea caves, the island, birds, seals, etc. Gorgeous area and a nice hike through dense, lush rainforest. Dont miss it!
