A6024 : Holme - Woodhead Reservoir ( Holmfirth )

North West England > United Kingdom > Europe
September 12, 2010 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.5

My favorite bit of road, not the longest of routes but you can do it ten times over and it doesn't get boring!

A87 : Invergarry - Kyle of Lochalsh

Highland (Scotland) > United Kingdom > Europe
January 20, 2005 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.8

Fantastic ride into the Highlands that really shows the best side of biking in Scotland. A great selection of corners, brilliant landscape and some wonderful nature. There can be some animals near the road, but visibility is mostly very open, so they pose little threat. There was no Police presence at all when I was last there, but this may have changed as I saw this road mentioned in a major UK motorbike magazine article recently.

A832 / A835 : Kinlochewe - Ullapool ( West Coast Heaven )

Highland (Scotland) > United Kingdom > Europe
November 19, 2005 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road5.0

From Kinlochewe take the A832 towards Gairloch, the first section past Loch Marie is exceptionaly fast with straights and wonderfull sweeping corners, 3 figures on speedo everywhere. You then get a short 'nadgery' single track section into Gairloch. After Gairloch the road just gets better and better, along with the spectacular scenery. The view over Loch Gruinard is worth stopping for. When you eventualy get to the A835 turn towards Ullapool, a layby on the right has a tea van, to stop, and get the adrenalin out of the system before the run into Ullapool and a pint of Krony 1664 in the Ferryboat Inn. This route can be enjoyed by all of us, cruisers, sports bikes, big tourers, everybody!

A5012 : Pikehall - Cromford

North West England > United Kingdom > Europe
June 4, 2005 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.4

Some very tight corners in the Peak Dist. National Park. Not an exceptional stretch but noteworthy if you are in the area, enjoy.

A6 : Allestree - Buxton

North West England > United Kingdom > Europe
January 19, 2005 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.0

Nice scenary that runs by the Ladybower reservoir, mostly good road surface. A thoroughly nice ride at differing speeds depending on your ability. Be aware that there is some police presence and this has probably increased since this road was mentioned in UK magazine RiDE as a favourite route.

A57 : Glossop - Sheffield

North West England > United Kingdom > Europe
January 6, 2005 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.4

One of the best this one, loads of good corners and a good surface. Really excellent

A537 : Buxton - Macclesfield (The Cat & Fiddle)

North West England > United Kingdom > Europe
November 28, 2004 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.5

The much loved and notorious Cat & Fiddle run. A brilliant road with excellent corners, it's reputation is also it's biggest problem, loads of bikers ride the route, and loads of police there standing by waiting to catch them!! This is officially Britain's most dangerous road.

A5004 : Buxton - Whaley Bridge

North West England > United Kingdom > Europe
January 16, 2005 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.2

The A5004 between Buxton and Whaley Bridge is a spectacular road with virtually no police presence. A nice panoramic corner in the middle too with a slightly dodgy/torn surface. You can make it a triangular run, if at the first set of lights in Whaley you turn left onto the B5470 to Macclesfield - another good twisty road but with many villages. Once in Macclesfield, you go back out on the Cat & Fiddle to Buxton, then turn round and do it again.
