One of my favourite routes, quiet route with a nice variety of corners

A lovely road but you need to be alert for some of the bends that are quite sharp. An excellent road to practise reading and reacting to limit points. I've done it several times now, always north towards Uppingham and find it fun to try and balance the bike on the throttle and use the brakes as little as possible. Haven't managed to crack it yet as usually get caught out by a couple of the really tight bends.

This is a great great road.

After going from Harborough to Uppingham stop off at The Vaults on the square for a jar and chat about the ride then head to Caldecott and Rockingham to get back to Harborough.

There are a succession of fantastic curves most wide and could be at high speed if it was legal!! Do it first steadily to learn the lines then up the tempo when you know it.

The main curves have shell grip and really good visibility, it's a red route though mostly due to cars over cooking it and running off or wide so be cautious, accidents have virtually stopped since the shell grip was added to prevent them but be cautious.

Enjoy, it's a massive adrenalin spike.

Rode this for first time today. Great surface, obviously been resurfaced recently. Can break off in Medbourne and follow Drayton Road east which will bring you back along fast country road to A6003 near Rockingham.

Well worth adding to make up a cicular route. Travelled in either direction there is considerable challenge on the hilly section just near Uppingham . Links up nicely with the Melton-Mkt Harborough road ( with a small blat along the A6)and the A606 Oakham - Melton ( via the A6003) with various routes possible out to Stamford and Bourne etc.Very much a rural road with all the usual hazards of high hedges , farmers , mud, gravel and bumpy bits but only here and there and it has quite a good overall road surface which is actually excellent in places.

Start in Uppingham and turn onto the B664 Stockerston Road
Watch the first mile out of town as there are a few corners that tighten up unexpectantly and often a lot of mud on the road from farms.
Then you hit a superb view over the valley and a 180 degree hairpin. Down the hill and watch out for the bridge (single file traffic). Lovely tight bends through Stockerston and then you climb up the hill and enjoy a few more sweeping bends.( you can do a minor detour left to Neville Holt - a private country house with more breathtaking views) At the top of the hill enjoy the views before a fast straight with dips into Medbourne (nice food at the Neville Arms). Out of Medbourne over one fast humpback bridge (you could get airbourne here) but then another harsh one where you dont want to!. A tight bend and then sweeping roads (look out for hidden dip) into Weston by Welland. Climb the hill into Sutton Basset and then a nice chicane onto a long fast straight up to the A427. Now you can either turn round and do it again or turn left and head for Corby and take the A6003 back to Uppingham. So much choice! So little time! Enjoy
