A tale of two passes that reach across the face of the Langeberg Mountains between Ashton and Swellendam. The road surface was recently re-done and is an absolute pleasure. Both of the passes are fast sweeper types with only the two middle sections having any hazards. In both cases it´s large wine co-ops with the accompanying traffic.

This ride could be one of the forgotten treasures of the western cape.
I would recommend that it is enjoyed by running down to Swellendam along the R60 then have breakies in any of the numerous cafes. After breakfast head for the Tradouw pass and over to Barrydale, Lunch at the Pumpkin then hit the R62 back to Montagu and head for home.

I´ve regularly do this run on a sunday and you should give yourself the whole day for a gentle ride or 5 hours if you plan on hammering it, and trust me you can give it stick on all the roads out of town.
