OU-533 : A Gudina - A Rua

Galicia > Spain > Europe
May 30, 2008 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.7

A partly recently surfaced road snaking through beautiful countryside over hills and through valleys. Nice and wide with fast sweeping bends with very little traffic. This road encourages fast riding and is a must for anyone visiting the area. 4 of us hit this road in May 2008 after coming through the narrow mountainous roads in northern Portugal and if we werent on tight schedule rest assured wed have gone back and done it all again ENJOY!!!!!!!!

A87 : Invergarry - Kyle of Lochalsh

Highland (Scotland) > United Kingdom > Europe
January 20, 2005 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.8

Fantastic ride into the Highlands that really shows the best side of biking in Scotland. A great selection of corners, brilliant landscape and some wonderful nature. There can be some animals near the road, but visibility is mostly very open, so they pose little threat. There was no Police presence at all when I was last there, but this may have changed as I saw this road mentioned in a major UK motorbike magazine article recently.

A72 : Galashiels - Peebles

South Scotland > United Kingdom > Europe
January 7, 2005 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.0

A good combination of some nice bends and straights with fairly good visibility and the added bonus of a very limited police presence in my experience.

N621 : San Vicente de la Barquera - Riaño

Asturias/Cantabria > Spain > Europe
August 13, 2006 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.8

Starting from San Vicente take the N634 before turning off onto the N621 to Unquera. Starts off a nice low level road with sweping bends & scenery before it starts to climb into the Picos de europa Mountains. A fantastci run along a mountain gorge with tight bend after tight bend before the road calms down a bit as you approach Potes. As you leve Potes the road gets a little narrower and realy starts to get intersting as you start to climb up to the summit at Puerto de San Glorio at 1609m - there is view after view of fantastic mountain scenery and more bends than you can shake a stick at. As you begin to drop down towards Riano the road surface changes for the better and the road is slightly wider, rewarding you with faster sweeping bends and a few good straights until you arrive at Riano which is surrounded by lakes... there is a service station at the entrance to the village with the best view I've ever had whilst fulelling and a great little Cantina just behind the service station to refuel the rider.

A714 : Newton Stewart - Girvan

South Scotland > United Kingdom > Europe
October 12, 2008 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.7

This road has something for everyone. At the Newton Stewart end there are some pretty fast straights and nice sweeping bends. Watch out for deer on this stretch though. Pleasantly wooded run at the side of the River Cree. Road surface here is good but watch out for slippy areas particularly just after a storm. After Bargrennan the road starts to climb and the scenery changes. The road surface also changes and there are quite a few bumps and holes. Approaching Barhill the roads gets twistier. A mixture of fast straights and twisty sections awaits now as you travel towards Girvan and beware of gravel on the corners which is sometimes washed into the road. Approaching Girvan you will have a cracking view of Ailsa Craig on a good day but take care, the route down into Girvan is twisty and demanding. Come back by the A77 Girvan - Stranraer route or head back to Newton Stewart for a different perspective. If you travel this route from Girvan link up with the A712 Newton Stewart- Crocketford route and make a day of it.

A712 : Crocketford - Newton Stewart

South Scotland > United Kingdom > Europe
November 19, 2005 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.8

This route is worth going out of your way for. Leave the highly policed A75 at Crocketford and follow the A712 all the way to the A75 at Newton Stewart. Initialy you go through farmland with the usual hazards, this then gives way to forest, but all of it bends and twists the whole way. This route demands concentration for speed, and its probably where Foggy developed his eyes. Just be aware that although I have never seen the Police on this run, but policing in Dumfries & Galloway is strict.

The Kirkstone pass, a great road with some very nice corners

A352 : Sherborne - Dorchester

South West England > United Kingdom > Europe
July 2, 2005 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.3

This route certainly beats the main road to Dorchester. Leave Sherborne on the A352 to Dorchester. Stay on this road all the way to Charminster then join the A37 for the last couple of miles to Dorchester. Some prefer this route in reverse. There are lots of bends, both fast and slow but they are hard to read. There are one or two open bends where you can see the road layout but most are concealed. Its very hard to get it right. Not much traffic here and no double white lines so easy to make progress.

N625 : Riaño - Cangas de Onis ( Picos de Europa )

Asturias/Cantabria > Spain > Europe
October 10, 2006 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.6

Forst section is realy nice with beautiful scenery. Desfiladeros are a must with last section with not so good pavement, but corners are amazing. Road not wide and must take care with local traffic that might became distracted with scenery. Kiss your footpegs goodbye in Riaño and after relax in a cidreria in Cangas...

AS-253 / LE-331 : Boñar - Cabañaquinta ( Puerto de San Isidro )

Castilla/Leon > Spain > Europe
April 6, 2008 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road5.0

Puerto de San Isidro has little traffic (except in its low end), better views, and more kilometers of fun than the more crowded N-630 between Leon and Oviedo through Puerto de Pajares, so its a good alternative to it.

NA178 : Olazagutía - Estella ( Parque de Urbasa )

Vasco (Basque),Navarra/La... > Spain > Europe
February 20, 2008 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road5.0

This road crosses Urbasa Park. The road is narrow, with good corners, some tourists, some cows shits and outstanding views. Not for speeding.

NA178 : Lumbier - Ezcaroz

Vasco (Basque),Navarra/La... > Spain > Europe
February 20, 2008 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.0

A very good road in a beatiful valley with lots of corners. Stop at the view point in Foz de Arbayun.

From Ezcaroz you can turn west to reach Roncesvalles, go north through Larrau to France, or north and then southeast to make a circle going back through Roncal valley.

NA127 : Layana - Sanguesa

Aragon > Spain > Europe
September 7, 2005 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.5

An average strip of road with a section of really good hairpin bends in the middle of it.

Gi 682 : Sant Feliu - Lloret De Mar

Catalunya > Spain > Europe
March 23, 2006 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.9

Absolutely stunning piece of coast road - not a single straight section. The road twists and turns its way along the Costa Brava coast for 13 miles, and at the end you'll want to turn back and do it all over again. Loads of places to stop and take in the scenery, lovely smooth tarmac, and if you do it on a summer's evening no traffic. Bumped into another Brit biker who said it was more fun than the Nurburgring!!

BU550 : Trespaderne - Artziniega

Castilla/Leon > Spain > Europe
February 20, 2008 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road5.0

As an alternative to the main road between Burgos and Bilbao you find this fantastic road. Curves start in Oña, and going north between trees and mountains you find Puerto de Angulo (it has a good view point). At the bottom of it you will find Artziniega.

BU530 / A2122 : Trespaderne - Puentelarrá ( Embalse de Sobrón )

Castilla/Leon > Spain > Europe
February 20, 2008 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.0

Fantastic road bordering Embalse de Sobrón. In the middle of it you can visit the medieval City of Frias.

In Trespaderne you can choose to go to the medieval town of Medina de Pomar, going north to Bilbao through another fantastic road, or going west to Santander through another panoramic road following Ebro river.

CL622 / ZA125 : Palacios de Sanabria - Castrocontrigo

Castilla/Leon > Spain > Europe
March 29, 2005 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.0

A really good twisty and fast route, not much in the way of run off in places, so you need to remain focused, but a spectacular ride with an excellect lack of traffic.

AS12 : Navia - Pesoz

Asturias/Cantabria > Spain > Europe
February 11, 2008 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road5.0

Part of the best biking road in Asturias. Spectacular mountain landscapes, no traffic, no people, good tarmac and some ancient celtic villages to visit (in Coaña). To do it in 3rd until getting sick.

In Pesoz you can choose to continue to Grandas de Salime and then to Pola de Allande through Puerto del Palo, or to Grandas de Salime and then to Fonsagrada to eat the best octopus, continuing to Lugo after that. Or back to the coast in Vegadeo through Los Oscos region.

AS114 : Cangas de Onís - Panes

Asturias/Cantabria > Spain > Europe
February 11, 2008 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.3

One of the best biking roads in Asturias, but better out of season. In summer theres a lot of traffic because its in the way to Covadonga and Los Lagos de Covadonga. You can see Naranjo de Bulnes from a viewpoint in Poo de Cabrales.

Good tarmac with all type of corners, to do it all in 3rd gear.

N634 / Lu862 Oviedo - Navia - Foz - Viveiro (and on to the La Coruña coast)

Asturias/Cantabria > Spain > Europe
May 1, 2007 - 3 star route rating Motorcycle Road3.0

Take the route through the mountains via Navia. This is a stunning route through to La Corunna. Locals will look at people who ride bikes in more than t shirts and sandals with curiosity, but all part of the fun. There are a few blind bends on the way, but mostly the country sweeps along. Wife didn't whine too much about being thrown around!
