Open rural road
Open riding on an open road through farmland
Good ups downs twists and turns nice scenery
The bad news - posted speed limit 50mph... Good news - nice twists turns and ups and downs, varied rural Texas scenery.
Much more fun than 190, small hills good scenery and some long corners
Slow Sunday morning with breakfast at Johnnies Steakhouse. Yummm. Cruise through the Village of Salado see how the 'other half live' this is more of a meander than a ride. Watch for golf carts and deer ALL over the place!!!
Wide smooth road good straightaways
Good scenery easy riding a couple of good long corners
Short n sweet, no shoulder,
Good scenery, wide road, the loop is a park (free) where you can see the spillway and has good fishing. Great view across the lake when you cross the dam
Daytime ride, lots of deer in the morning dusk and night. Several good corners nice scenery and views of the lake
Easy riding crosses the dam, small (free) park on the southern end where there are trails, fishing, or just watch the water in the spillway
Good rural scenery on the southern side lightly urban on the northern side. Great tall long bridge over the lake. Good views.
Country roads nice rural scenery
Short n sweet nice scenery
Nice open country, with some great straits aways an long corners. watch for deer on the salado end.
A fun little road some good corners with dips on the Moody end
Some nice long corners good visibility
Lots of great corners, one of the best roads I know.
Some nice twist and turns as well as decent straight aways.
Suggestion *do this route counterclockwise* the wait for the ferry is far shorter if any. The ferry is free. Biggest caution for this ride is crosswinds on the many bridges. The bay bridge coming into downtown is VERY high and has a nasty curve to the right as you come into down town. Beautiful scenery, really great Sunday morning ride.
Start with lunch at Coopers - Yummie, hit the trail - lots of open space very rural 75mph mostly two lane road. Morgan shady park is super quiet and the folks are super friendly. Tent and RV friendly. Fishing and swimming and kayaking in the river (last time I was there there was a kayak rental in town near the grocery store - they delivered) Electric and water at all sights.
This route is mostly rural with small villages and rural towns, winding roads with some straight stretches. Ok for about any level of rider. Gatesville is proud of their speed limits!!
