Its the only decent road very close to me. It´s still a great place to practice some very technical bends including a lot of elevation change. Very different to anything else in the area and more of a mini Nurburgring. Not to be taken lightly for a few reasons:- its technical and the some bends are deceptive (tightening radius) - good for oractive, bad if you come here to blat. There are often pedestrians, dogs, bimbling cars about so you can make a right pain of yourself if you don´t practice a bit of restraint. Because so many have gotten it wrong here, speed limits have been slashed with most of this route now a 30 limit (down from a national). Actually, even if enjoying it, you won´t be going very fast on this because its so twisty, but you need to pick your time. Just treat with respect.

After 15 years of riding around the south east, this is the only good sequence of bends i've ever found.

July 26, 2010 -

On the plus side it's very local (to me at least) and there are some good bends and one or two half decent straight sections but the negatives are significant, it's very short and even if you do the loop it's still too short for a decent run, traffic is very heavy in the are almost all of the time and it's taken its toll on the surface. Hazards are plent and the roadside tributes to those lost stand testament to that.

The legendary Pirbright Bends, rumor has it McLaren used this road to test their new production cars on as its the best road in the area.

On the route I have added, instead of going straight on at the junction of the first section you can take a left under the railway bridge onto Gapemouth Road for some nice corners which take you into Frimley. If you do that you can make a loop. By going from the first part, turn left under the bridge onto Gapemouth Road for part 2 once youve gone past the traffic lights over the bridge (theres a pub on the right there) then take a left at the roundabout/t junction onto Sturt/Mytchett road. After going down there for a mile you will come to the mini roundabout which if you take the left turn brings you back to the start.
