Its amazing that this route is not here!
With the 27 new 'give me your money and licence' cameras on the Afkn9
this is by far the best route to get from Inverness to Perth or Dundee.
Actually it was always the best route.
There is everything you could want on this road.
Road from Culloden to Grantown is a good mix of long straights
and tight corners with very little police presence, although the odd tractor and
rare caravan. Grantown to Breamar is
one of the amazing spectacular roads in the country.
With a huge amount of stunning mountain roads with LOADS of
tight turns through some amazing scenery on a nice day.
Then through some of the most picturesque glens in Scotland
with long sweeping bends and some straights(hard to choose to get some
speed up or take it slow and take in the scenery.
Braemar Perth is an ok road with a mix of some nice turns
through some rural roads, but be ware of livestock and farm
vehicles on this stretch and the very occasional police car.
Every section of this route is by far a better way of getting
to Inverness from the south than the A9. it takes about and hour
to and hour and a half longer but it feels to go so much quicker,
especially now with the average speed cameras. you will arive with
a huge grin on your face every time (if its not raining). the fuel
stops are a bit scares after 10 pm there is not one between Perth
and Nairn but out on a nice daytime blast there are a good few.
Hope everyone finds this route useful for avoiding the and most of all FUN!
