This is a casual route that I like when just getting away from the house. It has notable BBQ at either end, and the fuel stop in Lexington is optional if you have the range. You can go either direction as it suits you. Hwy 95 between Elgin and Taylor completes the loop with little excitement besides the Coupland Dance Hall.
