A fantastic ribbon of tarmac, superb in either direction (I prefer Duffield to Wirksworth). Fast flowing bends coupled with sharp, tight 90 right then 90 right corners and lots of undulation. Some lovely little straight sections too, set in green rolling countryside. A really quick section just coming out of Duffield including a great straight... with a garden centre entrance just round the next blind bend - watch out for that. Otherwise, super.

Absolutely fantastic piece of road once you get out of Wirksworth and onto the 50mph limit.

Better still once you get onto Cowers Lane, and the section between the crossroads and Duffield is absolutely beautiful for blasting round and getting a good few corners in.

Only likely to see a copper at each end of the route, by Wirksworth and Duffield villages, as both have small police stations. So long as you're careful in the 30mph and 40mph zones, the old bill won't be anywhere near you!

Enjoy, I take this road quite frequently, so if ya see me on a small 125 supermoto, give us a wave :P

The B5023 is a smashing road either North to South or vv. In the south it starts from Duffield. Once out of the 30 it has some smashing curves up to the 40 at Cowers Lane (traffic lights and 40). It the has a couple of miles to Idridgehay again with quite a few nice curves. After Idridgehay it gets a bit faster. There is one very interesting reverse curve with a big hump. Approach this too fast and you may be in trouble. Lovely route with nice scenery - if you have time to notice it. Now a 50 or less thoughout.

Brilliant road, the surface is getting a tad old and rough near Wirksworth, but it still makes for a fantastic ride.

Pretty good, surface a bit rough at the wirksworth end and can be a lot of traffic at certain times. That said it is well worth riding and beats the A6 hands down, better corners and less traffic than the very busy A6. Faz

Thanks to this website I tried this road, and I am glad I did.

I can only agree with others, and say I will never use the A6 to Matlock again.

It had a couple of downsides. Firstly a few farm field entrances and exits which dragged mud on the road, and a couple of unexpected corners.

I am a newbie to riding, (Just over 10 hours now thanks to this road) and I took this fairly slowly. It gave me chance to practise overtaking though and thanks to one corner that nearly caught me out allowed me to test the grip levels of my bike.... A lot better than I had dared risk before. :)

I was smiling 6 hours after finishing this road. Best ride out on my bike so far!!

Why use the A6 to Matlock when this beats it hands down!!! Cracking route - good technical sedctions with lots of change in height and areas to open the throttle. Not a route to take lightly - you need to stay alert for drops in the road on blind bends - enjoy!

I love this stretch of road allthough its not very far its superb, geat variety of corners, fast sweepers,s-bends,dips,its a real roller coaster ride that will definately test your riding skills and once you get to know the corners it really does take some beating..i could ride up and down this road all day long and still have a huge grin on my face at the end of it :)
