This is a great road once you know it well and has some great corner combinations which are very rewarding, but at weekends very busy with cars caravans etc going a lot slower than you. As a variation when coming up from shoreham at storrington turn left at roundabout on B2139 towards Amberley, this road is fast with a couple of good straights and some sweeping corners. Can stop at Houghton at the tea shop by the river or carry on to the A29 roundabout and stop at the bury hill car park cafe. Loads of bikes there sat and sun.
This is a really nice run with enough to keep you on the ball. Not many straights, however there are some lovely, but can be nasty bends between the Steyning bypass and Washington roundabout (Junction with A24). This bit of road needs to be ridden a fair few times to get it under your belt at speed, but once you have, it's what biking is all about. Sadly this bit of road has gained the reputation for the highest number of bike fatalities in West Sussex according to various sources. DON'T let it put you off. It's a great run that leads to other routes already mentioned by "GXSRLAD & BONYTONY".
