Really great bike tour. The landscape is amazing!! Worth stoping by at the hot springs - about half way from Chiang Mai to pai. The hot pool and view are like a piece of heaven! Many more interesting sites along the way.
North part of route is through valley of tourist traps, tiger kingdom, insect zoo, ATVs, bungee, monkey show, orchid garden, snake farm, elephant stay...waterfalls. After waterfalls nice part of route begins. Good surface, corners, nice landscape. You can stop at Samoeng. There are some tribes, you ...
Alternative route between Doi Inthanon and Chiang Mai. There is swing place in the river in Mae Wang valley and you can see also some elephant there. Road is sometimes narrow and not so clean as main route to Doi Inthanon so be aware of small stones there.
Nort Thailand is biker's heaven.
I have been driving in north Thailand twice, -07 and again this winter, total round 2500km.
Norht Thailand is all this: Thousands of curves, very good road surface (asphalt), nearly no traffic, beautiful scenery, good food, nice people and cheap. What else do you ...
A real curve-fest! Pai is about 3 hours from Chiang Mai. Just about right for a day trip. I read somewhere that there are 800 curves between Chiang Mai and Pai. The road surface isn't the best but, it's not terrible either. I really enjoyed it. Pai is a backpacker stop with lots of restaurants.
