A stunning road with stunning views, can be a bit busy in peak season, but plenty of overtaking places. The whole Mosel valley froM Koblenz to Trier looks much the same but I have Only ridden this section. This section makes a good day out from the Nurburgring if you fancy a change.

The L48 cuts through the Palatinate Forest Biosphere reserve nature park. Plenty of curves as it follows a stream through a steep canyon. The forest is so thick that even on sunny days, much of the road is in the shade. I saw a lot of sportbikes there so, it's popular with the local riders.

This is a route a friend told me about and it was easy to follow even without a GPS. I've done this route in 1-1/2hr so it's a nice quick ride. On the weekends you may see more bikes then cars, especially along the first half.

Leider hat der Winter das eine oder andere Schlagloch hinterlassen. Auf der Jungviehalm gibt es die möglichkeit einer kleinen Pause. Die Brauerrei in Mettlach ist auch nicht zuverachten und in Orscholz gibt es denn blick auf die Saarschleife
