Newly paved in 2008. Only ridden East to West. East side much more fun as things start to level out as you approach New Denver. Very little traffic except for fellow riders. Great fun!
Very much a +140 kph speed route. A radar detector (Legal to use in Alberta and British Columbia) is a must have if your going to do this at high speed. Considerable traffic in the summer months but lots of opportunity to pass. Watch for Bears and Deer. Great visibility and relatively safe at high s...
Rated BC's # 1 motorcycling road in the Destination Highways series, and well deserving of that designation. Best ridden on weekdays mid-morning when enforcement is lightest. Lots of blind driveways in the built up areas to be cautious of, but overall still the best in BC!
This is really a mixed bag, but all of it great in one way or another. Landed in Bella Coola by taking the ferry from Port Hardy on northern Vancouver Island (about $250 for an overnight 20 hour trip). Bella Coola is a tidy First Nations town. Nice pavement up to The Hill. This switchback gravel ...
Duffy Lake Road British Columbia , Canada December 13, 2010 - 4.5
Just a great ride! Lots of corners and just enough straights to get by slow traffic if you
e on the throttle hard. Wildlife warning, this is remote country. Great new pavement on the Whistler half of the road but old nasty pavement complete with frost heaves on the interior half of the route. Lo...
A friend familiar with the area helped substantially with my routing
this year (2010) and was on me like a cheap suit about taking the Keremeos /
Merritt route. I may not agree with her enamourment with Loop Loop Pass but
she was beautifully spot on about sticking to her guns about the Merritt...
Lots of twisties with some up and down. Follows the lakeshore so plenty of views to the west. The area is pretty much a throwback to the 70s in terms of culture. I heard theres lots of BC bud. Crawford Bay has some interesting pubs and a small music festival in August. Great little lakeside restau...
A nice country road and a good alternative to the highway nearby which is straight and as boring as it gets. The old road parallels the river and has some nice picnic parks along the way. Watch for blind driveway entrances to the road and many deer on the roadsides.
12 miles north of Merritt there is a 'shortcut' through Douglas Ranch (Douglas Lake Road) that ends in Westwold and cuts out most of the boring loop to Vernon. Its hard packed dirt with gravel and worth the ride. You can't miss the turning point with the log cabin church.
We were on our way to Yukon Territory and Alaska July 2011. Phenomenal Scenery into Stewart, Glacier after Glacier . Great curves paved all the way to Stewart. Great little restaurant in Stewart and accommodations for small town .( refer to Milepost Guide book for more details ) We stayed one night...
Two-lane asphalt through virgin Canadian tall pine forests, stunning snow-capped mountains, glaciers you can walk upon that come literally roadside in summer, hot springs, widely-spaced cute towns and great riding for any kind of bike from full dress Harley to enduro. You can push the envelope on m...
This was a logging road only a year ago that been upgraded with paving recently. There were still a few miles of dirt (good condition) but lots of twistees. Stop at the big tree rest stop to see a collosal tree! Road occasionally narrows to a lane and a half. Watch for occasional logging trucks ...
This is a great ride along the coast and through the forest. Road surface varies but generally okay. Watch for wildlife, deer, bear etc. Can be cold with ocean breeze. Some nice rivers to stop at and relax with a sandwich. Pub and a couple of restaurnats in Port Renfrew. NO GAS along route. I...
Brilliant run and a toss up between a 4 or 5 star road. I went with 4 because there are an average number of straights. But, ideally Hwy 6 has just about everything - big sweepers, some tight twisties, a mental sinuous section near Needles, broad valleys, big mountains and forests. The Needles - Fau...
