I am from Columbus but am now living in Europe. I still get to visit Columbus about every other year or so and would like to catch up on some of my old routes. I recall going to Old Man's Cave and Licking County Strip mines (dirt biking) and Salt Fork Lake. I prefer road riding and will most likely need to borrow a bike. I would like to know if I could rent one somewhere in that area. Assuming I get there and get my hands on a bike I would appreciate some suggested routes. It has been over 15 years since I rode there and I have forgotten most routes. Thanks for suggested central Ohio routes with trees and twisty roads and small towns.

Hi William,

A couple of years back I tried to rent a bike in Ohio (about halfway between Cincinnati and Dayton) and it was very difficult as a visitor to the US to rent anything other than a Harley (their rental network is fairly extensive and offer all kinds of models for different time periods)

At the time this wasn't what I was looking for (I wanted to rent a sport touring style motorcycle to enjoy the curves and the sights a bit but I was unable to find a good way to do that at the time.

More recently I have seen sport touring rental companies popping up in some areas but not in Ohio, so let's hope that is a possibility soon!

If you are interested in taking a Harley as an alternative, here is the website for EagleRider, Eagle Rider is a former supporter of this site and I have used them when I went to Texas once and they are good.

Good luck with your search, let me know please if you find something, I would be happy to hear myself about it!
