From Mauterndorf avoid signs to the autobahn and head up over the Radstadter. The high point is 1793m above sea level at Obertauern. Road generally wide and easy to pass outside peak holidays. Road popular with cyclists and mobile-home (RV) types!

This route connects Landeck in Austria to Bolzano in Italy missing out the motorway via Innsbruck and putting some very interesting climbs, descents, views and a number of straight bits. The bit from Merano to Bolzano is particularly good.

Fantastic scenery, and the highest pass in Austria. Open May to November. Can be busy - so probably best to avoid at weekends. Very popular with bikers, but cars too. You need a head for heights and have to like hairpins too. Some nice fast stretches too. Very few hazards except the road itself...

Direction Innsbruck. This pass can be busy in season but it has many sweeping corners and frequent 2 lane sections for easy passing. The is one particularly nice downhill section with one slightly tricky corner but ohterwise, pretty straightforward. Enjoy

This is one trick bit of road. Simply laid-out and built for bikes! The valleys on both the Eastern & Western sides of the pass are not especially spectacular - unless you are a keen skiier and the calendar is on winter time. Exiting Salzburg on the B1 is a tragic bit of the route but you are soon crossing the border into Bavaria, stay with BS21 through Bad Reichenhall. The route viamichelin gives you doesn't include the 1 in 5 climbs over the Wurzen Pass! From the start take the S54 towards Kranjska Gora and into Slovenia.
