C511 : Reefton - Cambarville ( Reefton Spur )

Victoria > Australia > Oceania
March 21, 2008 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.5
Nominally this ride starts at the Reefton Pub, but much of the lead in road is quit pleasant. I personally have never seen a cop on the Reefton Spur but I have seen plenty going to and from, so beware. From the Reefton Pub you turn left up and over the bridge an into the hills. This road first climbs the range and then runs the ride before dropping down into a saddle between two hills. The road is fairly tight and demanding and the traffic generally light (as the road doesnt really go anywhere). Hazzards include damp patches that hang arround forever after rain in winter, snow is not uncommon either, and the occassional very slippery piece of bark. Like most Australian roads, dont stray off the road or you will face plant a tree and then fall several meters. You have come to the end of the main part of the Reefton when you arrive at a T-juction after descending a hill. Usually there will be several bikes parked just round the corner to the left as riders take a deep breath before running the spur in the opposite direction. An alternative is to continue to the left over a less demanding but still twisty road to Marysville and one of the many cafes.

Dargo Run : Dargo Glenaladale

Victoria > Australia > Oceania
February 26, 2016 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.0
Came across this road almost by accident - and after riding it I was surprised to see that it hasn't been listed up here yet.

This is a road to nowhere - a return trip (unless you have an adventure bike in which you can go all the way to Mt Hotham if you're happy to do a number of k's on gravel).

(If the gov't paved the rest of the way - this would be the #1 road for bikes for getting to the alps!)

As for this section, the road is in good condition with a wide variety of corner types from tight right through to higher speed sweepers.

For all the roads I've traveled in this area, I'd have to say that this belongs near the top of the list - at the time of posting this, the surface was in great condition - much better condition than most others in the region. A very enjoyable run which I plan on returning to.

Mount Buffalo : Porepunkah

Victoria > Australia > Oceania
February 26, 2016 - 4 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.0
The Mt Buffalo road is a challenging road. Starting at the base of the mountain is a high speed run with nice sweepers, which after a few kilometers start to tighten up. There are many tight hairpins as well as corners that tighten up just before the exit so you need to keep your wits about you, but makes for an enjoyable run.

Mitta Mitta South (to Omeo)

Victoria > Australia > Oceania
March 28, 2015 - 5 star route rating Motorcycle Road4.7
Previously containing a section of gravel road, this is recently fully sealed all the way from Mitta Mitta to Omeo - and is not widely known about yet. Over the top of the ranges the last bit to be sealed is slippery (as the stones have not been swept after the sealing - as at start of 2015), but this should clear up over time. Can be a great option to return north if doing the south side of Falls Creek road.

Forrest to Skenes Creek

Windy road through forest surroundings. Best ridden in summer as moss grows on the road in winter.
