South East England and Lo... > United Kingdom > Europe October 13, 2018 - 3.0 This route is part of my commute during the summer months. It is not salted in winter. It is a great challenging route that I ride on a BMW R1200GSA. Between Watton and Rushden there are about 4 or 6 leaking water sources that can turn to slush in the winter. The road is quite technical and be careful through the narrow lane north of Cromer, where the route crosses the A507 because cars often pull out assuming you plan to turn left and coming into Ashwell as the road is narrow. There are several sections of B roads that have long sweeping bends where you can ride at the national speed limmit. One short section in Ashwell is a gravel road to avoid the village. You can continue straight as the end of the gravel road instead of turning left and you'll then be able to ride Ashwell Street to Bassingbourn which is a green lane. This route makes a great change from the A507 which is a lovely road but full of cars. The route is open and you'll have the road to yourself. If you catch up with a car, there are plenty of overtaking opportunities. There are some gravelly corners so take care. Alan
Los Lagos > Chile > America October 30, 2016 - 5.0 This was one day's ride on a route to Ushaia. The scenary was spectacular and much of the roads were gravel although we travelled through many sets of road works where the route is being tarmac'd. This is a superb day's riding but can be very challenging.
Bourgogne (Burgundy) > France > Europe October 30, 2016 - 4.0 A superb day's ride with coffee in Chatillon sur Seine and lunch in Dijon. The route travels through a number of beautiful villages, take care on the cobbles, has some good straight and some wonderful routes through woodland with many challenging corners. We lived to tell the tale without incident.
