Beautiful Ardennes, Belgium
Not at all interesting. Speed camera after speed camera once you hit Oxfordshire (that said they are all meant to be getting switched-off soon). Loads of traffic, no fun at all. Agree with the comment about turning off and stopping for a coffee in the pub in Farringdon - much more pleasant.
Nothing in particular to recommend this one.
This is my daily commute road - joining at Kingston Bagpuize, and travelling to Swindon 12 months of the year. This road is a pain - too many lorries use this as a short cut between the A34 and M4 when they are travelling west of Swindon. There are very few good bends, and the one good one travelling west has a camera immediately after it. Once you know where the cameras, the best time to travel on tis road is late evening in the summer - best travelled towards Oxford.
Oxford to Swindon is a real pain as there aren't too many decent runs unless you bob down to Wantage and then along underneath the White Horse to Ashbury and then Shrivenham back to on to the A420. Alternatively THE road is to get off at Faringden and then head to Lechlade and then either Highworth (to Swindon) or Cirencester depending on whether you really want to go to Swindon. Faringden to Lechlade will have you and your bike singing.
Too busy most times. Lot better minor roads in area.
Pretty fast bit of road and a bit of dual carriageway to aid getting past the trucks! Some daft 50 limits in open country designed purely to fill the coffers of the local safety camera outfit to buy new cameras! Otherwise quite interesting and an historic market town a Faringdon for a cuppa on the way.
