A real mixture of road types and surfaces. Some of the surfaces have suffered badly in last winters extreme temperatures but they are getting ther with the repairs.
Can Be incorperated inro a Devils Bridge run if you like. When you get to Sedburgh you can turn onto A683 and it takes you right back to Kirkby Lonsdale. Cracking run and you can get to the famous Buttertubs Pass from Hawes as well!
This road is great on a weekday as it isn too busy and there seems to be minimal policing. On weekend there are always police cars/camera vans.Totally pointless 50 limit between Langwathby and A66 but Police H.Q. is actually on this road near Penrith so watch out.
Do this route regularly and inall conditions. Watch out for tourists, walkers, cyclists and sheep. Road surfaces have taken a battering last winter but the majority of this route is ok. Love it in both directions!
Only done this once but enjoyed it tremendously. Most of the road surface is excellent but there is a 5 mile stretch where you have to watch it a bit. There were some police on this road but then there had been a car crash!
Sautens - Timmelsjoch - Brenner Tour (Austria) February 8, 2011Did this route a couple of years ago and found it incredible.Good road surface with spectacular scenery and plenty of corners. If you are in this area you would be mad not to try it.
