SS7 : Potenza - Matera ( Appian Way ) (Italy)June 14, 2007S7 from Potenza to Matera, via Tricarico and Grassana. It follows the Roman Appian Way. One of the most enjoyable and scenic routes in the area. Its a bit difficult to find coming out of Potenza so take the main autovia the 407 and then follow signs for Tricorico. Matera is a very attractive town and well worth a visit. CA 299 : Redding - Eureka (United States)October 13, 2006Highway 299 is a great ride. To make it even better, join it up with Highway 36 to gie a good circular day out of just over 300 miles. US 129 : Robbinsville - Maryville ( Deal's Gap - Tail of The Dragon ) (United States)May 17, 2006I've ridden this road a couple of times and it is, without doubt, one of the best biking roads in the world. It demands total concentration and if you love the twisties, you'll be hard pushed to find a better ride S429 : Poggibonsi - Castelina in Chianti (Italy)March 23, 2006The lower part of the route is fairly ordinary but the final section is really pretty and great riding. Once you get to Castellina, there are plenty of other enjoyable rides. E74 / N204 / SS20 : Cuneo - Tende - Ventimiglia ( Col de Tende ) (France)February 10, 2006A nice route. Cuneo is a very beautiful town and well worth a visit. Sospel, which John also mentions, is in the middle of Monte Carlo Rally territory and there are some great roads to explore in the area. |
