Chief Joseph Highway : Cody

How many places can you go 100 mi between towns? The senery is specktacular the road good enough to enjoy the scenery. Not so many switchbacks as Beartooth Pass (I don't like doing 50 miles of twitchbacks)... one of the most beautiful rides in America.

Great scenic views and some switch backs...watch for wildlife and enjoy the sweeping curves

Beartooth Pass gets the most rider press and Chief Joseph Highway plays second fiddle. Personally, this should be reversed and the few locals I met think the same. Beartooth is good, but Chief Joe is better both for the road and the scenery - 5 star stuff.

Too right about gassing up (petrol), however there is one campground pump on the route nearer the Beartooth intersection in the north.

So much nice riding to do out in this area!!
Gas is scarce so don pass up a chance to stretch and fill up.
If heading East continue into Cody then towards Buffalo via Bighorn National Forest along route 16.
