did this ride twice back in Oct 13 2012. believe everything you hear, see, and read about this road. the most exciting 11 miles you will ever ride. twisties galore, hair pin turns, gravity drops, just an amazing ride. I rode it once with my girl on the back who actually said Im gonna throw up in my helmet and once alone after dropping her off. the most fun Ive had on my sports bike. road conditions are great. police is present, so be careful.and do not take your eyes of the road or you will end up off a cliff. not for beginner riders.

My son and I recently did Deals Gap (June 09). It was his first time. He loved it! Its a good ride, great curves and we didn see a single cop until we had returned to the Deals Gap store. We rode on a Friday morning, about 8am. Fog was just lifting and traffic was relatively light. There was some road work that had started on our return ride back to the gap. That slowed things and backed us up behind a string of cars and asphalt trucks. Bummer! But, the first ride great. Cherohala was also a great ride, and no road construction or cops when we came in on Thursday evening.

The Tail of the Dragon was great. All 318 turns was designed perfect with great pavement. The road had so much grip compared to roads here in WV. This is a road that everyone should ride at least once. Police coverage was not to bad the day i was there but Ive heard that it can get bad. The only big problems was that the speed limit was only 30MPH. But all and all the best road i have ever ridden.

I've ridden this road a couple of times and it is, without doubt, one of the best biking roads in the world. It demands total concentration and if you love the twisties, you'll be hard pushed to find a better ride

Deal's Gap is THE twistiest road in the Southeastern US. Their claim to fame is, "311 curves in 11 miles". It is a constant playground for bikers of all kinds complete with a biker-friendly campground at the North Carolina starting point. A variety of hairpin turns will keep any motorcyclist's eyes wide open. People from all over North America come here just to ride "The Dragon". Recently though, it has become so popular that the police presence is heavy. Be sure not to cross the yellow line and they'll leave you alone. The cops are around most heavily on the weekends as there are hundreds of motorcycles that come through. Not only is "The Dragon" worth riding, ANY road you pick in this area will be beautiful with long sweeping curves and breathtaking views.
