I am a UK resident, I come to the USA for the roads, and to TOUR NOT RACE with my Buell riding friends from Denver,
I can tell you this road is one of the reasons i come to the USA a rollercoaster of a ride, corner after corner after corner, some constant radious corners return (switchback...
Overall I gave this road a "Very Good" but if the asphalt were a bit better it'd be nirvana. Turning off Hwy 93 westbound onto Hwy 12, you quickly come to a large, flashing caution sign, "Warning: Curves Next 99 MIles." Well, that pretty much says it all. This road winds along a decent size river...
On the Frontage Road and riding 56th back to the frontage really pay attention to traffic at intersections, they can be dangerous. The rural road from Laurel to Molt Road and Back to Billings is great!
Blue Creek Road is really nice. The Pryor Road to Old Hardin Road can have some potholes and has a lot of patches But the Blue Creek Road and the Old Hardin Road over Lockwood pass are really great Biking roads.
Yaak River Road MT - Lincoln/Flathead/Gla..., United States August 11, 2012 - 4.0
Very quiet route, little traffic. remote Forrest with plenty of twistiest as you approach the eastern half of the route. There are some falls to stop at about 10 min from the start of the western side. Dont forget to stop at the Tavern in Yaak, which has plenty of camping space.
Excellent ride done over 6 days. Lots of excellent views and places to stay. We stayed in Missoula for 2 days and did a couple of rides there, then back to BC. From Creston BC to Nakusp BC was very nice ride, but slow and lots of corners.
The highway from St Marys to the turnoff onto Highway 49 is an up down curving road. Depending on tourist traffic you may have the road to yourself or you may have to wait for one of the short straights to get around. A fun ride.
