Also known as Bwlch-y-Groes it's a classic, singletrack mountain road with spectacular views either side of the pass itelf. So best ridden in clear weather. I rode it on an SV650 in the company of a guy doing a round Britain tour for charity. It was his first time up there and he was gob-smacked.

i was able to go back on this ride at the end of march 2011, it really is a beautiful scenic ride, albeit mostly single track road.stop at the top of the pass and you can have a wander about if you want, i did this on a thursday at end of march. and felt like the only person,alive,marvellous!

i went up to this mountain pass road a few years ago.i hope to do it again in june,it makes your motorbike thinks its a bmw of sorts! main problem is getting there the a 487 can be very packed with all sorts of holiday makers in there cars/caravans etc.when i went the road was closed and i had to use a diversion following what seemed like every caravan in the country.not very good but mountain pass road brilliant.

A brilliant route especially on a traillie when you can see over fences etc - narrow lanes and farm / sheep dogs that jump out and try and bite your legs off !!! A wonderful route !!!

This route uses the Bwch-y-Groes(pass of the cross)this was the test route for most of the old British bike manufacturers,to test 'hill climbing abilities' its easy on a modern bike though. There is one double hairpin at the bottom of the hill and its mostly 'single track' road. Used a lot on the Nick Sanders motochallenge series. A must to see Wales highest mountain pass.
