Waterfall Way (New South Wales, Australia)
November 19, 2008 rated
by Muffo - (My first time - score: 5)
"Start your trip from the beach town of Nambucca Heads in New South Wales and head out to the highway going north toward Coffs Harbour. After passing over the bridge at Urunga look out fot the Bellingen turn off.
Take the turn and follow the Waterfall Way right through to Dorrigo via the Bellingen main street.
The road from Nambucca to Bellengin and on to Thora is average surface with a few bumpy sections and the odd dairy cow crossing so watch out early morning and mid to late arvo as these are milking times and the cows can leave slippery stuff all over these sections so be aware if you know what I mean.
After going straight through the Bellingen main street and out the otherside the road follows the upper Bellingen river and runs through lush green dairy country to Thora and the base of the mountain where you will find a small shop with the general stuff. About 2 to 3 ks after the Thora shop the road surface becomes hot mix and is race track smooth all the way to the National Parks turn off at the top of the mountain some 9 ks away. Its non stop cornering and throttle action from top to bottom if you get a good run .
Just remember this is a public road and it has traffic coming down as well so stay aware and with in you limits as its easy to get a little carried away and some of the corners are quite tight and long.
Once in Dorrigo head to the right at the memorial in the center of town, ride along for about 50 mts and stop in at the cafe .They have bike memorobilia and a few classics on display, as well as good coffee, there is also a great little Chocalate shop near by if you are so inclined.(And clean public toilets)
On the way out of Dorrigo check out the canopy walk at the National Park some 10 mins from the main road and well worth the detour.Spectacular veiws of the mountains and tree tops.
The ride down the hill can be just as much fun as coming up and a stop at the waterfall rest area is always good for a few photo shots of the view ,the beer at Bellingen pub is nice and cold and well worth a stop and Bellingen has a heap of alternate style shops to look at.
You can also drop into Urunga for a look ,its a great little coastal villge with a small main street and a pub that serves up a good feed as well.
Its then off to Nambucca Heads for a few more beers a swim and some lunch at the Leauges&Sports Club .
If your taking this trip during the week be aware of logg trucks using the Waterfall Way.These vehicles are slow and use up lots of the road ,the drivers are fairly good and will let you pass if its safe for them to do so.
This road can be reached from Coffs Harbour by simply heading south along the highway to the Bellingen turnoff.
Safe riding, and see you on the hill!!!

A3083 : Helston - Lizard (South West England, Great Britain)

"Worth riding this road for views at Lizard point. Can be ridden quickly with care but the road changes from wide to narrow, twisty to straight, so keep alert. Riding south into the low winter sun on a damp track was interesting to say the least! The journey from Lizard back north was cracking." See More ...

B1108, alternative route south from Norwich (East Anglia, Great Britain)
November 16, 2008 rated
by mrp192 - (My first time - score: 5)
"Take the B1108 from the A47 Southern Bypass at Colney just outside Norwich. Its a fast twisty road, (used by local Police driving school occaisonally to teach bend assessment), with some speed limits through towns and villages. The best section is west of Watton across the army area. At A1065 turn left for A11 and south or turn right to go north to Swaffham and Fakenham and some of Norfolks other great B roads like the B1145. " See More ...
